Lock Your Cars: Another Running Car Stolen In Shaker

For the third time in two months, a car was left running, unlocked and unattended and got stolen.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Drivers in Shaker Heights have lacked some common sense, leaving their cars unlocked, running and unattended. Inevitably, some of these cars end up getting stolen. Prior to 2018, two cars were stolen in two weeks when they were left running and alone in front of gas stations. Now a third car has been stolen.

Police say at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, a 2014 Fiat was stolen from a resident on Palmerston Road. The car had been left running and unattended on the property. Luckily, police said the car was recovered later in the day.

On Nov. 29, a 2014 black Dodge Journey was stolen from a Shaker Heights resident. The vehicle was at the Sunoco Gas Station on Lee Road and the driver was inside the station during the theft. The car's license plate reads FIT1308.

Then, on Dec. 7, an unidentified suspect stole a Lakewood resident's 2018 Blue Hyundai Santa Fe. The car was left unattended in the parking lot of the BP/711 in the 20000 block of Chagrin Boulevard. The car's license plate reads GYE4309.
