Lock Your Cars: Rash Of Thefts From Unlocked Vehicles In Shaker Heights

Several thefts from unlocked vehicles occurred over the past week.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Some residents in Shaker Heights continue to leave their vehicles unlocked while parked in driveways or on the street. As a result, thieves have an easy target. Several crimes-of-opportunity were made over the past week.

Theft, July 23 — Personal property was stolen from an unlocked car on Winchell Road.

Theft from Home, July 23 — Someone stole solar lights out of the driveway of a South Woodland resident's home.

Motor Vehicle Theft, July 24 —A Parma resident's 2013 Silver Dodge Journey was stolen while it was parked in the 3000 block of Lee Road. The car had been left unattended with the keys inside.

Theft, July 24 — Personal property was stolen from an unlocked home in the 20000 block of Chagrin Boulevard.

Theft, July 24 — Someone stole a package from a Chadbourne Road resident's home. The package had been delivered that day and the resident reported the theft at about 8 p.m.

Theft, July 25 — A resident in the 19000 block of Scottsdale Blvd. reported that someone stole personal property from their unlocked car.

Trespassing, July 25 — Police were called to a vacant home in the 14000 block of Onaway Road. A 28-year-old Cleveland man was found inside the house. He had damaged the building and gone in. The man was detained by police.

Shoplifting, July 26 — Police detained a 37-year-old Cleveland man who was found in possession of stolen merchandise from the CVS Pharmacy on Chagrin Boulevard.

Theft, July 26 — Personal property was taken from a vehicle parked in the 15000 block of Van Aken Blvd.
