Beginning July 1, Medicare will implement a national mail-order program for testing supplies for people with diabetes. Patients can receive testing supplies through the mail using an approved mail order supplier.
Follow these steps to see a list of approved providers. Go to www.medicare.gov and click on “Find a Medicare contract supplier.” Enter your zip code and then click on “mail order diabetic supplies” and “search.” Call 1-800-Medicare (1-800-633-4227) if you do not have internet access.
Getting supplies through the mail may save patients money on the 20 percent co-pay. Patients can still go to any local pharmacy that is enrolled in Medicare and get supplies there.
