Meet Shaker Heights High's Substitute Principal On Wednesday

David Glasner has the unenviable task of taking over leadership of the high school in mid-November.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Parents have the opportunity to meet substitute Shaker Heights High School Principal David Glasner on Wednesday morning. The meet-and-greet will be early though, at about 7:15 a.m.

"Yes, 7:15 a.m. is early. The good news is that it will be easy to find a parking place! SHHS PTO hosts these Principal Chats four times a year, all at different times of day with the hope that you can get to at least one," the Shaker Heights High PTO said in an email to the community.

Glasner is filling in for Jonathan Kuehnle, who was recently placed on administrative leave. While school district officials have assured the community the investigation into Kuehnle does not concern the safety or well-being of students, outraged parents have demanded more information.

A public meeting on the issue was held late last week and went haywire. Parents eventually seized a microphone and began directing questions to Shaker Heights Schools officials.

"You have avoided leadership," Clyde Christian, a parent, said at the meeting, according to WKYC. "If there was strong leadership in place, these issues would be addressed. Because everything is kind of bubbling up at one time."

The district has since apologized for the contentious and frantic nature of the meeting and promised to release as much information as possible.

"We know that we had the wrong format for this meeting and that we failed to give you the answers that you sought," the Board of Education said the next day. "Immediately after the meeting, we reached out to our District legal counsel and other consultants to assess each personnel matter and to discuss the information we can share with the community."

Allowing parents and the community to get to know Glasner could certainly help dampen some of the vitriol bubbling in the veins of Shaker Heights.

Wednesday's early morning meeting will be held in the high school's egress.
