The Shaker
Historical Society, 16740 South Park Blvd. in Shaker Heights, OH invites families and friends to come aboard and join to see a running Modular Narrow Gauge Train
Demonstration on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The chugging sounds of the Narrow
Gauge Locomotives are sure to get your engines running! Choo Choo!
In the late 1800’s, a new consolidated Baldwin
Locomotive Works’ design of the narrow gauge locomotives called the 2-8-0 marked
a milestone in enhancing the power and pulling capacity of engines on the
classic on the 3-foot rails of the Denver
and Rio Grande Railway. The 2-8-0’s design (later called K-27) for the D&RG
proved that these little engines were more than up to the task of expanding
business on the railroad.
