More Thefts From Unlocked Cars In Shaker Heights

Police have asked residents to lock their cars at night. The advice didn't reach everyone.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Police dealt with a series of thefts of property from unlocked cars over the weekend. At least five vehicles were targeted by prowlers, with thefts focused on Van Aken Blvd., Kenyon Rd., and Scottsdale Blvd.

Receiving Stolen Goods, Sept. 22 — Friday morning, police were called to the Heinen's grocery store in the 16000 block of Chagrin Blvd. where they detained a 36-year-old Cleveland man who was found in possession of stolen goods.

Receiving Stolen Goods, Sept. 22 — Officers were again called to Heinen's at noon on Friday. Police detained a 57-year-old Cleveland woman who was found in possession of stolen goods.

Theft from Vehicle, Sept. 23 — A resident in the 16000 block of Van Aken Blvd. reported that an unidentified suspect stole personal property from their unlocked motor vehicle. The theft occurred during the nighttime hours, police say.

Theft from Vehicle, Sept. 23 — A similar theft occurred in the 15000 block of Van Aken Blvd. An unidentified suspect stole electronic equipment from a resident's unsecured motor motor vehicle. Again, the theft occurred during nighttime hours.

Theft from Vehicle, Sept. 24 — An unidentified suspect stole personal property from an unlocked car in the 16000 block of Kenyon Rd. The theft occurred in the nighttime hours.

Theft from Vehicles, Sept. 24 — Two residents in the 16000 block of Scottsdale Blvd. reported that an unknown suspect entered their unsecured motor vehicles and stole personal property in the nighttime or early morning hours.

Possession of Stolen Property, Sept. 24 — Two juvenile males from Cleveland were detained Sunday evening in the 2000 block of Lee Rd. The duo were found in possession of stolen property.
