Musicians Holding Benefit Concert For Greater Cleveland Food Bank

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Supporting the Greater Cleveland Food Bank has never sounded so sweet. The Cleveland Institute of Music will hold a benefit concert for the food bank on Feb. 18 at the First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland in Shaker Heights.

The concert will begin at 8 p.m. at the church. There are no tickets for the event. Admission can be gained with an optional monetary or food donation. Food donations should be canned or dry goods, while monetary donations should be in the form of cash or checks made out to Music for Food.

Organized by the Student Government Association (SGA) of the Cleveland Institute of Music, the line-up of musicians is star-studded. The concert will feature Cleveland Institute of Music faculty and alumna. Several of the participating faculty are also performing members of the Cleveland Orchestra, including Mary Kay Fink, Frank Rosenwein, Afendi Yusuf, Barrick Stees and Richard King.

“SGA is incredibly thrilled to bring students and faculty together to make beautiful music and support a wonderful cause,” said SGA President Rachel Lauson, who also will perform in the concert.

The musicians will perform Gounod’s Petite Symphonie, Mendelssohn’s Octet and Saint-Saëns’ Havanaise.
