Police Catch Car Prowler In Shaker Heights: Blotter

Shaker Heights Police caught a man stealing items out of cars on Van Aken Boulevard. The man was in possession of stolen items.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Police have caught at least one suspect in a series of thefts from cars throughout Shaker Heights. Read on for more information on that arrest and other incidents from the past week.

Shoplifting, June 11 - A 47-year-old Cleveland resident was detained by police after he was seen stealing merchandise from Rite-Aid on Chagrin Blvd. Officers caught up to the man after the theft and found him in possession of the goods.

Theft, June 12 - Equipment was stolen from a locked storage unit on South Woodland Road. A resident reported the theft at about 11:50 p.m.

Theft, June 13 - Someone stole a bicycle seat from a locked bike at Thornton Park. The victim of the theft is a city employee.

Theft, June 15 - A lawnmower was stolen out of the yard of a home in the 2000 block of Lee Road. The lawnmower had been left unattended.

Motor Vehicle Theft, June 16 - A 2004 black Honda Accord was stolen from a resident in the 2000 block of North Moreland Boulevard. The car was unlocked at the time of the theft. Police say the car has a New York license plate reading #GEE 8913.

Theft from Motor Vehicle, June 17 - Police detained a 49-year-old Cleveland man who was seen prowling inside a Van Aken Boulevard resident's vehicle at 5:43 a.m. The Clevelander was found in possession of stolen property and arrested.

Theft from Motor Vehicle, June 17 - Two residents on the 3000 block of Avalon Road called police to report that someone had stolen personal property from their locked cars. Police recovered the stolen items when they caught the 49-year-old Clevelander mentioned above.

Burglary, June 18 - Someone entered a locked home in the 3000 block of Rolliston Road and stole electronics.
