Prowler Hits Dozens of Cars, Garages in Shaker Heights

Unlocked cars throughout the city were rifled through by an unidentified suspect on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - Always lock your cars and your garages, people. Dozens of residents across the city were hit by a prowler on Jan. 17-Jan. 18. Money was stolen from cars and the man entered garages, vehicles, and homes that were left unlocked.

Theft, Jan. 17 -Shaker Heights police tracked and detained a 14-year-old male who was found in possesion of a cell phone stolen from a locker at Shaker heights Middle School. The 14-year-old was caught on the 3000 block of Rolliston Road.

Robbery, Jan. 17 - A resident reported that several unidentified juvenile males demanded their car keys and then ran away. One of the juveniles was wearing a ski mask. The robbery occurred on the 2000 block of North Moreland Boulevard. Police were able to track down four Cleveland residents, between the ages of 13 and 14. No weapons were found on their persons and no property was stolen from the resident.

Theft from Motor Vehicle, Jan. 17 - A resident on North Moreland Boulevard reported that someone entered their unlocked car and stole tools and a carrying case. The carrying case was recovered.

Trespassing, Jan. 18 - Someone entered an unlocked garage on Holbrook Road and rummaged through the vehicles parked inside. No property was reported stolen.

Trespassing, Jan. 18 - A resident on Parnell Road reported that someone came onto his property during the night. No property was stolen.

Trespassing, Jan. 18 - Someone entered an unsecured garage on Inverness Road. They went through the resident's vehicle, but nothing was taken. The person came into the garage during the night.

Burglary, Jan. 18 - Someone walked into an unlocked home on Belvoir Boulevard and stole money. The resident discovered the theft in the morning.

Theft, Jan. 18 - Someone entered an unlocked car on Dryden Road overnight and stole money. The resident discovered the theft in the morning.

Theft, Jan. 18 - Someone entered unlocked cars on Parnell Road and stole money.

Thefts, Jan. 18 - There were 10 additional incidents of someone leaving their car or garage unlocked and a prowler either entering their home or vehicle and leaving empty-handed, or with the prowler stealing cash. There were incidents on McCauley Road, Elsmere Road, Daleford Road, Onaway Road, and additional incidents on Belvoir Boulevard and Parnell Road.

Theft, Jan. 18 - Shaker Heights Police tracked and arrested a 45-year-old man who stole merchandise from the BP/711 store located on Warrensville Center Road.
