Rare National Honor Given To Shaker Heights Music Program
Only 4 percent of school districts nationwide usually receive this designation.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The Shaker Heights City Schools have been named one of the Best Communities for Music Education, a rare designation bestowed on only 4 percent of school districts nationwide.
"Music education at all levels plays an integral role in Shaker's holistic approach to education,” said Superintendent of Schools Gregory C. Hutchings, Jr. “Our music faculty and students are so deserving of this distinction and, as an District, we couldn’t be more proud of them.”
The award recognizes districts that provide music access and education opportunities to all students. To qualify for the award, each district must provide details on funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the local music program and community music-making programs.
