Replacement Fernway Classrooms Being Prepared

With spaces at Boulevard, Onaway and Woodbury schools being used to house Fernway students, the replacement classrooms are coming together.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Preparations on classrooms that will house Fernway students have begun in earnest. Custodial crews are working on assembling the spaces at Boulevard, Onaway and Woodbury schools.

The school district shared images of two completed classrooms in Boulevard and Woodbury. Both rooms had recently delivered furniture, what looks like desks and chairs, but did, in fact, look like very usable classrooms.

With the school year set to begin on August 22, the district has also ordered all of the necessary supplies teachers will need to start classes. Teachers will be meeting with district officials to review what has been purchased.

In addition to what the district has purchased, several fundraising efforts have been collecting school supplies to equip classrooms. The Shaker Schools Foundation has been coordinating supply donation efforts. The district recommends contacting that group for assistance before buying additional supplies.

Placement letters and bus pick-up information will be released to Fernway families this week. The annual Fernway Ice Cream social will be held August 20 at Onaway, Boulevard and Woodbury. The Kindergarten social will be held at 5 p.m. at Onaway, Grade 1 will have their social at 6 p.m. at Boulevard, and Grades 2-4 will have their social at 7 p.m. at Woodbury.
