Resident Breaks Up Car Jacking In Shaker Heights

A patron at Heinen's would have had their car stolen had it not been for one courageous Shaker Heights resident.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — It's not often that heroes break up crimes, but that's exactly what happened in Shaker Heights on Monday. A courageous resident saw a car jacking in progress, confronted the would-be car thief, and scared them off.

Police are looking for the suspect that attempted to steal a Shaker Heights resident's car on Monday. The resident was coming back to their car after shopping at Heinen's when a male suspect jumped in the car, held the resident, and demanded the vehicle.

Another patron at the store saw what was going on. In a moment of inspired courage, they confronted the suspect and scared him off. The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The suspect was wearing a hooded sweatshirt to hide their face. No weapons were flashed during the incident and no one was hurt, partly because of the action of that one resident.
