Ribbon Run In Shaker Heights On Memorial Weekend
The event raises money for cancer research and will be run in honor of former Police Chief D. Scott Lee who passed away in late 2016.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH β The Shaker Heights Ribbon Run will be held this Memorial Day Weekend, on May 27. Registration for the event closes on Thursday at 11:59 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Shaker Heights Police.
The Ribbon Run is a 5K race/walk that starts at 9 a.m. Saturday. The event will begin at the Green Road RTA stop. The first 300 registrants will receive a complimentary T-shirt. There will also be awards for the top finishers in the race.
Registration is $30 and $15 for University Hospital Employees. Refreshments will be served immediately following the race.

A spokesperson for Shaker Heights Police said this year's race will honor former Shaker Heights Police Chief D. Scott Lee. After serving with the police department for more than three decades, Lee passed away on Dec. 28, 2016.

Lee was appointed Chief of Police in June 2008 by Mayor Earl Leiken. He pulled double duty, serving as the city's Assistant Safety Director starting in 2009.
"Chief Lee was a wonderful, compassionate man," said Commander John Cole of the Shaker Heights Police. "I don't have enough good adjectives to describe him."
