Robocall System Coming To Shaker Heights Schools

The school district announced it would bring a new robocall system to the city in the fall.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The Shaker Heights School District will have a new robocall system this fall, the district announced on Wednesday. The system won't be used for telemarketing calls, but for emergency closures and notifications. If school is closed due to an April blizzard, the system will whir into action, alerting anyone signed up for emergency notification.

However, the district is getting a new robocall system because it does not want to pester parents by reaching out to them on every available medium. The new system will allow parents to select just one, or a few, ways to be alerted.

Parents should have received an "automated call preferences" form with the annual Goldenrod student information sheets. The district is asking parents to review that form and select only the numbers or email address they wish to be contacted on by the robocall system. Forms returned without checked boxes will default to the cell phone number listed on the sheet. The district said it would release more information on the system once the release date is a little closer.
