This screening is part of an international research program called type 1 diabetes TrialNet. TrialNet is currently screening relatives of people with type 1 diabetes. Researchers are conducting this study to understand more about the development of Type 1 diabetes and to look at ways to delay or prevent Type 1 diabetes.
Through a blood test, doctors can determine if an individual may be at risk for diabetes years before symptoms appear. Family members of people with Type 1 diabetes including parents, children, brothers and sisters are eligible to be screened, free of charge. Cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren may also be eligible.
Screenings are from 12:30-4 p.m. June 23, July 7, 14 and 28 at Camp Ho Mita Koda, 14040 Auburn Road, Newbury.
