Search For Next Shaker Heights High Principal Moves Forward

The school district announced it had hired a search firm and appointed someone to oversee the hiring process.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The search for the next full-time principal of Shaker Heights High has taken a step forward. The school district announced it has appointed Erin Herbruck as the search project manager, and the selecting of a search firm, Finding Leaders.

David Glasner is serving out the year as Shaker Heights High School's interim principal. He took over the duties of then-principal Jonathan Kuehnle when Kuehnle was placed on administrative leave.

Now, the active recruitment phase for the next principal has begun. The search should be completed in May, the district said.

Herbruck and Finding Leaders will work together to identify candidates to become Kuehnle's full-time replacement. Members of Finding Leaders will come to Shaker Heights to conduct in-person meetings, run focus groups, and facilitate high school and community input sessions.

The district said an online survey will be set up to develop more a list of qualities sought in the new principal. "We look forward to our collaboration with the community as we work to include many voices in this process," the district said.

Kuehnle requested he be reassigned away from the high school. He will now perform agreed-upon administrative duties with the school district until his contract expires at the end of the school year, Shaker Heights officials said.
