Join in a series of Zoom discussions

Shaker Library and NewONEShakerinvite you to "Shaker Engagement with The 1619 Project," four free Zoom presentations on a progression of provocative weekly topics. The 1619 Project is an ongoing project developed by The New York Times Magazine in 2019, which aims to reframe the country's history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of our national narrative.

7 pm WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 21: Watch a brief video about The 1619 Project and then hear Dr. Valerie Lee, Professor Emerita in English and retired Provost of The Ohio State University, speak on The Effects of Slavery: A Literary Perspective.

7 pm WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28: The Effects of Slavery on American Schools and the Racial Wealth Gap Panel Discussion moderated by Dr. Donna Whyte, retired Director of Cleveland State University’s Diversity and Multicultural Affairs and current lecturer in African-American History.
