Shaker Firefighter, Police Officer Of The Year To Be Honored
The Shaker Heights Rotary Club will honor two members of the city's emergency personnel in a free, public ceremony.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year will be honored by the Shaker Heights Rotary Club on October 17. The awards ceremony has been running for more than two decades, with the first designation of the city's Firefighter and Police Officer of the Year being given in 1992.
In a free, public ceremony on October 17, the Rotary Club President John Sobotinic will lead the awards program. Rotary members Sally Baden and Adam Davis will present awards to Detective Bruce Adkins, for Police Officer of the Year, and Lieutenant Christopher Wirsching, Firefighter of the Year.
Both honorees will receive a plaque for their service, as well as a monetary gift. Mayor David Weiss and members of Shaker Heights City Council will be on-hand for the event.

The ceremony will be held at the Shaker Heights Firehouse, 17000 Chagrin Blvd. A breakfast reception will be held at 8 a.m., and the ceremony will start at 8:30 a.m.
In 1992, the first Police Officer of the Year was James Yarcusko, while the first Firefighter of the Year was Dean Charvat.
