Shaker Heights Boys Soccer Team Begins Postseason Today

The Shaker Heights boys soccer team begins postseason play at 4 p.m. today against Brush.

The game begins at 4 p.m. at Shaker Heights High School.

Shaker is ranked No. 2 in the Division I Region I District Tournament bracket. The team earned a first-round bye. Brush is No. 6 and beat Ashtabula Lakeside 9-0 on Wednesday.

Led by coach Nader Soliman, Shaker finished the regular season 7-6-3. The team beat Brush 1-0 earlier this month.

This is Shaker's first year in the Northeast Ohio League. The team won four Lake Erie League championships in a row from 2008 to 2011.

Last year, Shaker lost 4-0 in the district finals to Mayfield High School.

Shaker's girls team lost in the opening round of the playoffs 4-1 to Midpark. The team finished 3-9-3.
