Shaker Heights Bringing Art Exhibit to Town

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - An exhibit of photographs from Helen Liggett document the summer 2016 activities of students and planners participating in Making Our Own Space (MOOS) at Britt Oval in the Buckeye neighborhood as part of the Moreland Rising Initiative in Shaker Heights. The exhibit opens November 30 from 6 to 8 pm at The Dealership, 3558 Lee Road, and continues through the end of the year.

The goals of the image sequences in Making Our Own Space are to show that:

• Activating public space is a joint enterprise;
• What is being built is both tangible and intangible; and
• The art of making play structures is remarkably similar to the art of making community.

The opening of the MOOS photography exhibit is coordinated with a discussion on Playscapes and Community-Focused Urban Design, powered by PechaKucha. This will be a fast-paced discussion in which speakers share 20 slides for 20 seconds each from 6 to 8 pm, also at The Dealership. Hear from Architects, Civic Leaders, Landscape Architects, Open Space Programmers, and Artists on the importance of Play to the young and young at heart.
