Shaker Heights' Church's Annual Cookie Sale Set for Dec. 17

The event attracts about 150 people each year and features 36 varieties of Christmas cookies.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - This Saturday, Dec. 17, the Christ Episcopal Church, 3445 Warrensville Center Road, will bring back its festive, annual tradition of hosting a Cookie Sale. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event started 12 years ago, as a fundraiser for the church. The sale of the cookies has morphed into a municipal staple of the holidays. Christina Forward, one of the event's co-chairs, says that she expects about 150 people from "all over" to arrive at the church.

"It started with a small group of church women who wanted to do this," Forward says. "It became such a big hit."

Now, there are more than 36 varieties of Christmas cookies that will adorn long tables that stretch through the church. This year, the team has also added a craft bazaar that will feature eight vendors selling homemade items that range from crocheted blankets to adult coloring books.

This is how it works. You arrive at the church, get a box, and then select the cookies you want. You checkout and they weigh the box. Every pound of cookies is $10. You can also get a gift box, in case you want to gift the cookies to the sweet tooth in the family.

There will also be Christmas music playing during the event, Forward says.
