Shaker Heights Interim Superintendent Leaving District

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Shaker Heights Schools Interim Superintendent Stephen Wilkins will leave the district in mid-June.

Wilkins has accepted the position of chief of human resources with the Alexandria Schools in Virginia. David Glasner, the next full time superintendent of Shaker Heights, will begin his role in mid-June.

“The Board extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wilkins for his service to the Shaker Schools,” Board President Jeff Isaacs said. “We are very grateful for his leadership during this transitional year.”

Wilkinas became interim superintendent on July 1, 2018. Before that, he was the assistant superintendent of business and operations. During his five years in Shaker Heights, Wilkins managed the $30 million capital bond facility projects and guided the Fernway school emergency relocation, remediation and reconstruction efforts.

He has also overseen the selection process for the next Shaker Heights High principal.

“Shaker schools and departments are running well as we close out the academic year and head into graduation and clap-out ceremonies,” Wilkins said. “We are also prepared to welcome our incoming Superintendent and High School Principal. As I transition, we can look forward to the continued success of our great District and wonderful community.”

Former Shaker Heights Schools Superintendent Gregory Hutchings is now the superintendent of the Alexandria Schools, where Wilkins will take over his role as chief of human resources.
