Shaker Heights Joins New Regional Dispatch Center
The facility will serve Shaker Heights, Cleveland Heights, Richmond Heights, South Euclid and University Heights.

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH — Starting Nov. 1, the city of Shaker Heights will join the Heights-Hillcrest Communications Center (HHCC), a joint dispatch center that brings together five communities. Cleveland Heights, Richmond Heights, Shaker Heights, South Euclid and University Heights will all be serviced by the HHCC.
The new facility was dedicated on Oct. 17. A ceremony with mayors from the five cities, along with Armond Budish, Cuyahoga County Executive, saw the ribbon cut on the new facility.
The HHCC will serve both police and fire, and is located in the MetroHealth Building in Cleveland Heights. (To stay up to date on these stories, subscribe to the Patch Cleveland Heights newsletter. As news breaks and the story develops, you will be the first to receive updates from Patch.)

The Communications Center will be funded through Cuyahoga County, which is providing a $1 million grant to the HHCC. The five cities agreed to the deal because the HHCC will feature state-of-the-art technology, additional dispatch staffing during peak hours and major incidents, opportunities for deeper collaboration between emergency service personnel and continuous training.
There is also built-in redundancy for HHCC, with Chagrin Valley Dispatch, to ensure no downtime.
