Shaker Heights' Kid Cudi Enters Rehab for Depression
The rapper posted a message to his fans on Tuesday saying that he needed to take time for himself.
CLEVELAND, OH — Rapper and former Shaker Heights High School student Scott Mescudi, aka rapper Kid Cudi, has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility after battling depression and suicidal urges, according to a statement posted on the rapper's Facebook page.
"I guess I give so much of myself to others I forgot that I need to show myself some love too," Mescudi said in a Facebook post. "I think I never really knew how. I'm scared, I'm sad, I feel like I let a lot of people down and again, I'm sorry. It's time I fix me. I'm nervous but I am going to get through this. "
Mescudi became a household name in 2009 when his "Man on the Moon: The End of the Day" album dropped. Hit single "Day 'N' Nite" peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. He has released five studio albums with a sixth on the way. How Mescudi's entry into rehab will impact his work is yet to be determined.
