Shaker Heights Principal Leaving School District
Carina Freeman is heading to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District after spending eight years in Shaker Heights.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - Lomond Elementary Principal Carina Freeman is leaving the Shaker Heights Schools.
Freeman, who has been with the school district since 2011, is taking an administrative position with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. She will start her new position on July 1, 2019.
“Principal Freeman leaves a legacy of excellence in the Lomond Community. The students and staff excelled under her leadership,” said Interim Shaker Heights Superintendent Stephen Wilkins.

Freeman graduated from the Shaker Heights Schools in 1988. She returned to the district in 2011 as the assistant principal for Lomond. She briefly served as assistant principal at the Middle School before becoming Lomond's principal in 2013.
Before returning to Shaker Heights, Freeman was a teacher in East Cleveland and Euclid. She was principal of Adlai Stevenson School in Cleveland. She has a B.A. in communications from Cleveland State University and an M.Ed. from John Carroll University.

The district has begun searching for her replacement.
“Ms. Freeman will be missed,” said incoming Superintendent David Glasner. “Lomond has flourished under her stewardship. Cleveland is gaining an educator with a deep understanding of curriculum and instruction. We wish her the very best.”
