Shaker Heights Resident Selected as 2017 Bank of America Student Leader

Shaker Heights High School junior Sarah Grube is one of five Cleveland-area teens selected to be part of the 2017 Bank of America Student Leaders program this summer. The program awarded the students a paid, eight-week summer internship at the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and a trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the Bank of America Student Leadership Summit. The internships provided students with valuable work experience while also supporting the nonprofits with extra help this summer.

Throughout high school, Sarah has donated her time and energy to raising awareness for LGBTQ issues and promoting inclusivity. Following this passion, Sarah was appointed as the president of the Shaker Heights High School Gay Straight Alliance, a club which educates students about LGBTQ history, promotes inclusivity and openly discusses any issues or concerns as a united student body. Since becoming president, Sarah has built upon her leadership skills to work with both students within the GSA as well as the rest of the student body to build a safe environment for all. Additionally, Sarah is on the student organizing team of Advocates for Youth, representing the Collaborative for Comprehensive School Age Health at the Center for Community Solutions.
