The school district is working with Shaker Heights Police to ensure the safety of students and staff while the manhunt for Stephens goes on.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - The Shaker Heights School District said it is working with police to ensure the safety of students and staff while the manhunt for accused killer Steve Stephens continues. Police say Stephens shot and killed a 74-year-old man and posted a video of the attack on Facebook.
The school district said it is asking principals and school staff to be extra vigilant during recess, and arrival and dismissal. The district also said there will be an increased police presence near all Shaker school buildings on Monday.
"We will continue to monitor developments and will consult with Shaker Police and other agencies as necessary to ensure the safety of our students and school community. As always, we will continue to keep our families and staff informed as updates become available," the district said in a statement posted on its website.

Authorities are searching for Stephens, an "armed and dangerous" homicide suspect who allegedly posted a video to Facebook showing the killing of a 74-year-old man he is said to have chosen at random, Cleveland police said.
During a press conference on April 17, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said law enforcement does not currently know where Stephens is. He said the search parameters have expanded beyond the City of Cleveland and now encompass the entire Midwest. A spokesperson for the FBI said during the conference that Stephens "could be nearby, could be far away, and anywhere in-between."
