Shaker Heights Street Signs Being Auctioned To Benefit Schools

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — The Shaker Schools Foundation will be auctioning off more than 1,000 street signs from around the city. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the foundation.

The street signs were donated to the Foundation by the City of Shaker Heights. The city completed a sign replacement project this fall, making the old signs available for purchase.

Interested buyers will have two-weeks to snag one of the street signs. The auction will start at 9 a.m. Nov. 29 and run for two weeks, ending Dec. 13.

“We are grateful for the City’s generous decision to donate the signs to the Foundation,” said Shaker Schools Foundation Executive Director Holly Coughlin in a statement. “We look forward to distributing a little bit of Shaker throughout the area – and the country.”

The street signs are metal, one-dimensional and have a white, reflective background. The lettering on the sign is in black. The starting bid for the signs will be $35 and a buy-it now option will be available. The buy-now option will cost between $125 and $300 for a sign.

Signs can be picked-up Dec. 16 and Dec. 18 from noon until 5 p.m. at the District Warehouse, 3620 Lee Rd. Signs can be mailed to out-of-town buyers. There will be an additional fee for postage and handling.

According to the Shaker Schools Foundation, there is at least one of each street sign in the city available. Quantities of each street will vary.
