Shaker Heights: Update On City Youth Hockey Program

The City of Shaker Heights has been informed that a coach for the City’s youth hockey program tested positive for COVID-19. Parents/guardians of the players on the affected teams have been notified and informed of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health’s 14-day quarantine protocol.

The ice rink is now closed for 24 hours for additional deep cleaning. The rink has only been used by a limited number of user groups. Strict safety and sanitization protocols have been in place since the rink opened for these groups. The rink has been closed to the general public since the pandemic began.
City staff is in contact with Cuyahoga County Board of Health officials for guidance and is following their recommendations regarding a 14-day quarantine protocol for those impacted and reopening plans.

The rink will reopen Saturday, October 10 at 10:30 am for use by previously approved groups and individuals not affected by the quarantine.
