To help continue to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to serve our community, the library has reintroduced services and opened buildings in stages, following clearly defined service levels. This plan continues to evolve and to be informed by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the state of Ohio Health Department. See a summary of service levels in the graphic below.

Library visits will look different from when they did during pre-COVID-19 and pre-renovation time. Before visiting the Library, here’s more to know about how the Library is working to keep staff and visitors safe.

  • Both libraries have reduced capacity limits, which will be monitored for your safety.
  • The Main Library Computer Center is open for drop-in, one-hour sessions; Woods Branch also provides computers for the public.
  • Gathering spaces are no longer available; tables and chairs have been removed, and children’s play areas are not available.
  • Visitors can photocopy, print, and scan documents at both libraries.
  • Plexiglass shields are installed at the public service desks, and floor decals help to promote social distancing.
  • Staff have also made physical changes to the building with fewer touch points; for example, propping open external doors to public restrooms and replacing hot air hand dryers with paper towels, and disengaging public drinking fountains.
  • The Library will have hand sanitizer available, but it is always a good idea to bring your own should supplies run low.
  • Face coverings are required to enter the building, and must be worn correctly at all times. If you need a mask, call when you arrive and it will be provided.
  • Books and material should be returned to the Drive-Up Book Drops.

Shaker Library will continue to provide Curbside Pickup so people can continue to use the library without entering the building. All library programs will continue to be offered virtually through December. Please visit the website to see the programs offered on Zoom.
