Shaker Library Staff Don Jeans to Fight Hunger

Taking a Bite out of of Hunger One Casual Friday at a Time.

January 3 is the first Friday of the New Year. And, if you think Shaker Library staff members look a bit casual in their jeans, you would be absolutely correct. Friday is Jeans Friday, a staff-driven initiative entitled, Taking a Bite Out of Hunger, to raise money for The Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland.

On Jeans Friday, staff members pay $1 for the opportunity to wear jeans to work. Additionally, some staff members choose to dress as usual but contribute anyway. One of the greatest feelings in the world is knowing that each one of us can make a difference. In 2019, library staff made a difference and donated more than $1,000 to the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland to benefit our local food banks.

When you visit Shaker Library on Fridays, and you find the staff casually dressed, be assured that they choose to make a difference – not in their wardrobes but in the welfare of their neighbors. Plus, they can find the books, movies, and music you want!
