Shaker Resident Named Dean Of Cleveland State Law School

Lee Fisher, the former Attorney General of Ohio, had been serving as the interim dean of Cleveland-Marshall Law since June 2016.

CLEVELAND, OH — Lee Fisher, a longtime Shaker Heights resident, has been named the dean of the Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall School of Law. Fisher had been serving as the interim dean of the college since June 2016.

“I have truly enjoyed leading C|M|LAW for the last year and am extraordinarily honored to be selected as permanent dean,” Fisher said in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to work with our tremendous faculty and staff to enhance educational experiences for our students and best prepare them to enter the legal workforce.”

Fisher may be a familiar name to a lot of Ohioans. He served as the Attorney General of Ohio from 1991 to 1995. He was then Lieutenant Governor of Ohio with Governor Ted Strickland from 2007 to 2011. He also spent eight years as an Ohio State Senator and two years as an Ohio State Representative.

Fisher also spent more than two decades with the Cleveland-based law firm Hahn Loeser & Park, from 1978 to 1990. He was a partner at the firm from 1995 to 1999. He has also been the president and CEO of CEOs for Citiies, a nonprofit network of urban leaders. He has also served as director of the Ohio Department of Development and president and CEO of the Centers for Families and Children.

“Lee has been a significant asset to CSU and will continue to assist in expanding our academic reputation and promoting educational excellence,” noted Jianping Zhu, CSU provost and vice president of academic affairs.
