ONE Shaker to Host Parent Involvement Meeting

ONE Shaker will host its monthly Parent Involvement Learning Community meeting from 4:30 to 6 p.m. tonight at the .

The meetings encourage open participation from community members, parents, administrators and teachers regarding how parents can best collaborate with schools to maximize student achievement.

Aside from their own ideas, school representatives and attendees also read and discuss research and evidence-based data and stories that deal with parental involvement in schools. The meetings also give people an opportunity to learn about existing involvement programs in the district.

The Parent Involvement Learning Community hopes to co-design expanded strategies for inclusion in the district's . Work is also being done toward the possible launch of a small demonstration program by fall 2013.

ONE Shaker is a citizen's advocacy group in support of the district and board of education.
