Shaker Square Area Development Corp Hosts Second Annual 5K run
Yankee Doodle Dash 5K Run and 1-mile Walk/Kids Run Offers Fun for Families, Saturday June 30. Proceeds support Shaker Square neighborhoods.

CLEVELAND - June 18, 2018 - Shaker Square Area Development Corporation (SHAD) Kicks off Fourth of July festivities with the second annual “Yankee Doodle Dash,” its 5k run and 1-mile walk and kids’ run. This event takes place on Saturday, June 30 at 8:30 a.m. at the Cleveland Skating Club.
The Yankee Doodle Dash celebrates the diverse and vibrant historic community of Shaker Square. Proceeds from this event will assist SHAD in fulfilling its mission to support the Shaker Square neighborhood and promote the maintenance and preservation of this historically significant community.
The race course begins at the Cleveland Skating Club (2500 Kemper Road, Shaker Heights) and makes its way along the Lakes-to-Lakes bike trail, which follows the Doan Brook. Runners and walkers then continue on the scenic path along Shaker Lakes. The race finishes at the Skating Club where participants can enjoy an early Fourth of July celebration.

Refreshments will be provided along with family-friendly activities such Zumba warm-up exercise, and for the kids: tennis, crafts and face painting. Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress in their most creative Fourth of July costume for a chance to win prizes for the Best Fourth of July Costume Contest.
Awards will be given to the overall race winner and to winners from different age groups. Pre-registration for the 5k run is $25; $30 after June 23. SHAD members pay $20. Families may pre-register for $70. The 1-mile-walk and kids run is $20 for pre-registration, $25 after June 23. New this year is registration as a Phantom Runner at $20, for non-runners who wish to support SHAD.
