Shaker's West Park RTA Crossing Temporarily Closed to Traffic

The crossing will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic starting Sept 21 and re-opening Oct. 10.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - Starting Wednesday, pedestrians and vehicles will not be able to go through the Rapid rail crossing at West Park.

The site is undergoing an improvement project and will be closed from Sept. 21 until Monday, Oct. 10. The project is being handled by Ashtabula-based Delta Railroad Construction

"During construction, traffic on Shaker Boulevard in this area will be reduced to one lane in each direction (east and west). Travel across Shaker on West Park will be prohibited for the entire 20 days," says a statement on the city's website. "Northbound traffic on West Park will be detoured to South Park via Shaker. Southbound traffic on West Park will be detoured to Southington via Shaker. Pedestrians will be able to cross at South Park or Southington."

The city's posting also says that there will be no rapid stop at West Park during the construction period. Green line trains will run normally except on September 24-25 and October 1-2, when buses will replace trains, east of Shaker Square.

RTA said that train service will be replaced, specifically, with 67R buses. The 67R buses will stop at all stations along the Green Line between Shaker Square and Green Rd at the specially marked orange 67R bus stop signs.
