Thieves Stealing Money, Laptops and Other Items from Unlocked Cars: Shaker Heights Police Blotter
Several cars were broken into or entered over the last week and their owners' reported stolen cash, laptops, sunglasses and other items.
SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH - Police arrested a man for robbing the First Merit Bank, 3505 Lee Road, at about noon on Oct. 20. The suspect was a 43 year old man who was pursued and arrested by police.
According to a statement on the Shaker Heights Facebook page, the suspect was arrested after a short foot chase. No weapon was used in the robbery and residents were not in danger because of the incident. The man is now in custody at the Shaker Heights police department.

Shelburne Road, Oct. 14 - Someone broke into a resident's Jeep through their soft roof and stole the resident's laptop computer and backpack.
Chagrin Boulevard, Oct. 14 - A Cleveland man using the ATM at PNC Bank was robbed on Oct. 8. The robbery took place in the morning.

Chagrin Boulevard, Oct. 14 - At noon, officers detained a 22-year-old and 17-year-old Cleveland resident who damaged and tried to steal the locked car of a CVS employee.
Chagrin Boulevard, Oct. 14 - Officers detained a 56-year-old Cleveland woman for stealing $156 worth of cleaning supplies from Walgreens.
Woodbury Road, Oct. 15 - Someone broke into a locked car and stole a laptop, carrying bag and sunglasses. The resident reported the theft at 6:45 a.m.
Sutton Road, Oct. 15 - An unknown suspect entered an unlocked home on Sutton Road, stole personal property, keys, and the resident's car. Officers located the car and most of the stolen property on Oakwood Avenue in Maple Heights.
Van Aken Boulevard, Oct. 15 - An unidentified suspect reached into an open cash register at Walgreens, stole money, and fled the scene.
Van Aken Boulevard, Oct. 16 - Someone stole a man's unsecured bicycle from outside of Walgreens.
Van Aken Boulevard, Oct. 17 - A resident reported that a suspect entered their unlocked home and stole personal property.
Northfield Road, Oct. 17 - Someone stole money from an unlocked car that was parked on Northfield Road.
