Tierra Bryant: Shaker Heights Schools Issue Statement

Bryant was a 2013 graduate of Shaker Heights High School. She disappeared two years ago and her remains were identified over the weekend.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Over the weekend, the Lorain County Coroner's Office identified the remains of 19-year-old Tierra Bryant. The Shaker Heights High School graduate went missing two years ago after last being seen in Middleburg Heights at a motel. A search party found her remains on Thursday in a wooded area near Elyria.

Bryant had recently graduated from Shaker Heights High School prior to her disapperance. Shaker Heights Superintendent Gregory Hutching issued a statement on the recovery and identification of Bryant's remains.

“The administrators, teachers and staff of the Shaker Schools were saddened to learn of the death of Tierra Bryant, a 2013 Shaker Heights High School graduate," Hutchings said. "The death of any young person is tragic, and the circumstances around Tierra’s disappearance and death are especially difficult to comprehend. We send our sincere condolences to her family and her friends."

Bryant went missing in March 2015. She was last spotted on Bagley Road in Middleburg Heights. Before going missing she sent a mysterious text message to friend, Channel 3 reports. "Ok we still on our way to the room he being weird." Bryant's friend then went to her room, but the 19-year-old was gone.

Police made an arrest in the two-year-old case in late June 2017. Rashad Hunt, 39, was taken into custody in Sacramento, California before being brought back to Northeast Ohio. Middleburg Heights Police worked with the Cleveland Division of the FBI and Sacramento Police to catch Hunt.

However, because Bryant's remains were found in Lorain County, the case is considered to be under the jurisdiction of Lorain County, Channel 3 reports.
