Unlocked Car Stolen At Thornton Park In Shaker Heights

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Police are investigating several thefts of opportunity from the past week and a half. Unlocked cars and houses were rifled through by thieves. Read more about those incidents below.

Theft from Motor Vehicle, June 26 — Miscellaneous items were stolen from a car parked on University Boulevard.

Theft, June 26 — A Cleveland Heights resident's bicycle was stolen while it was parked at Shaker Heights Public Library. Police said the bicycle was locked to a rack before it was stolen.

Theft, June 29 — A resident's cell phone was stolen while they were visiting Thornton Park. Police said the phone was left unattended and was then stolen.

Theft, June 29 — A black and green Huffy bicycle was stolen a Cleveland Heights resident that was visiting the Shaker Heights Main Library on Van Aken Boulevard. The bicycle was not locked up.

Grand Theft Auto, June 29 — Someone stole a 2006 Silver Saturn Ion with the license plate #HBZ7228. The car was parked, and unlocked, at Thornton Park.

Burglary, June 30 — The landlord of an unoccupied home on Strathavon Road found that someone had broken into his property, stolen fixtures and damaged portions of the house.
