Unlocked Cars, Houses Targeted In Shaker Heights

Police have told residents they should take a few extra moments at night to make sure everything is locked.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — This past weekend in Shaker Heights saw a bevy of crimes of opportunity — mostly thefts from unlocked cars and houses. The crimes are a good reminder for residents to take a few extra moments, before they go to bed, to make sure everything is locked up.

On Friday, there were three thefts inside or near homes on Warrensville Center Road, Van Aken Boulevard and Menlo Road. At about 1 a.m., someone stole delivered packages that were left out in a common area at a building on Van Aken. A little before noon, someone stole a license plate and license sticker off a car parked on Warrensville. Finally, at 3:20 p.m., someone went into an unlocked home on Menlo Road and stole fixtures from the house.

On Saturday, electronics were taken from an unlocked car parked in the 17000 block of Winslow Road.
