Vigil, Fundraiser Organized For Slain Shaker Heights Teacher

Grief counselors are being brought into the district to work with students, families and staff.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH —Shaker Heights Schools teacher Aisha Fraser was found fatally stabbed on Saturday. School district officials said all Shaker schools will be closed Monday and Tuesday, out of respect for her family and loved ones.

The district is already on a holiday break, and was scheduled to be off from Nov. 19 through Nov. 23. However, staff were set to conduct training on those days — those events are cancelled for Monday and Tuesday.

The Shaker Heights Teachers' Association has organized a vigil in Fraser's memory. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, at Woodbury Elementary, 15400 S. Woodland Road. District officials said attendees should consider ride-sharing or using public transportation.
