Want To Be A Shaker Cop? The Path Starts Soon

A physical agility exam is a desired pre-requisite for applicants to the Shaker Heights Police Department.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, OH — Want to become a police officer in Shaker Heights? The path to the badge and blue uniform runs through Cuyahoga Community College.

The school is conducting a physical agility test for prospective police officers. The test will be held June 11 and June 16.

Shaker Heights Police said on Facebook that they are not currently accepting applications for officers, but will be in the very near future. Before applying to the department, though, they recommend would-be officers take the physical agility exam.

The Physical Agility Exam Program conducts three tests, according to Tri-C's website:

  • Police Officer Standardized Physical Agility Exam ($60 fee)
  • Written Cognitive Assessment ($60 fee)
  • Pre-Screening Psychological Assessment ($60 fee)

The certificate issued at the completion of the program is valid for one year. Testing may take place outdoors, so attendees will want to dress appropriately.

Attendees must register by the Wednesday prior to the exam. Attendees must have a photo ID, and must have a completed candidate packet.
