73-Year-Old Caught Shoplifting In Solon

The man was seen stuffing merchandise into a plastic bag at Market District.

SOLON, OH — Solon Police had the unenviable job of giving a citation to a 73-year-old man last week. The man was caught shoplifting at Market District. Employees saw him shoving items into a plastic bag and then walking out of the store without paying.

Domestic Violence, Nov. 4 — Police dealt with a domestic violence incident at Springhill Suites last week. A 25-year-old woman was found partially clothed outside the building, near a dumpster. The woman was brought inside. The woman told police she got into an argument with her partner. The man threw her to the ground and punched her in the chest when thing escalated. The woman then ran out of the room. The man was arrested and taken to Solon Jail.

OVI, Nov. 5 — A 28-year-old Solon man was arrested after he was seen drifting out of his lane while driving on SR 91. Police stopped the man's car on Solon Road, near Erico Drive. Police said they could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the man. The 28-year-old also had bloodshot eyes. Field sobriety tests were given and indicated the man was impaired. The 28-year-old was arrested and taken to jail, where he refused to take a breath test. He was charged with OVI, improper right turn and failure to maintain marked lanes.

Theft, Nov. 6 — Staff at Market District, 34310 Aurora Rd., saw a 73-year-old Aurora man stuffing items into a shopping bag before leaving the store without paying. The man walked out with $44.81 of merchandise. He was later issued a misdemeanor citation for theft and a criminal warning for trespassing.

Violation of a Temporary Protection Order, Nov. 6 — A Solon resident's 38-year-old ex-boyfriend, and father of the resident's daughter, sent the resident a text message while she was at work. Communicating with the resident in this way is a violation of a temporary protection order against the man, the result of a previous domestic violence charge. A warrant for the man's arrest was issued and the next day, Nov. 7, the man turned himself in at Solon Police Department.
