Accused Drunk Driver Dumped Bottle Of Wine Before Police Arrived

Solon Police said witnesses saw the woman hit a parked car, jump out and pour out a bottle of wine before cops got to the scene.

SOLON, OH — A 50-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly hit another car and then left the scene. Witnesses told police they saw the woman dumping a bottle of wine out near a stop sign before police arrived.

The crash happened June 1 at about 11 p.m. Dispatch sent officers tow Woodsmore Lane and Springside Lane for the hit-skip crash.

Officers arrived and found a silver Hyundai Sonata with heavy front end damage. The car was left in front of the stop sign on Woodsmore.

The driver, a 50-year-old Solon woman, said she had hit a parked car further down on the street, police said. Officers found the parked car, but did not say how damaged that vehicle was.

There was a smell of alcohol emanating from the woman and on her breath, police said. Her eyes were also bloodshot.

Witnesses of the accident told police they saw the woman get out of her car and dump a bottle wine near a stop sign before police arrived.

The 50-year-old was taken to an emergency room for treatment, but was charged with operating a vehicle impaired, hit skip and failure to maintain reasonable control. She submitted a urine sample, which will be tested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
