Allegedly Drunk Man Tried To Drive Son Home In Solon
An off-duty police officer stopped the man before he could get his 10-year-old son into the car.

SOLON, OH — A Solon man was arrested after an off-duty police officer noticed the man walking unsteadily and trying to get into a car with his 10-year-old son. The man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and having an open container of alcohol, Solon Police said.
Officers were called to the Solon Community Park at about 8:30 p.m. on May 30. When they arrived, they spoke with an off-duty Solon cop who said he had seen a 45-year-old man walking with a strange gait. The off-duty officer also said the man smelled of alcohol.
The off-duty officer soon realized that the 45-year-old was walking to his car, with his 10-year-old son in tow. The officer confronted the man and took his vehicle keys and a Coke bottle that contained a mixture of pop and rum.

When on-duty officers arrived, they had the 45-year-old take a breath test. He blew a .221 BAC.
He was then issued a misdemeanor citation for disorderly conduct and open container.

His wife was contacted and she drove her husband and son home, police said.
