• This Ohio manufacturing company is inventing the electrified future — and they want high schoolers to join them (cleveland.com) — High school students are being invited inside nVent's Solon manufacturing facility for Manufacturing Day, giving local teens a close look at modern, highly automated production jobs. Company leaders describe strong partnerships with Solon organizations to recruit and upskill workers, including apprenticeship programs and training for in-demand roles like press operators. They also highlight how AI and automation are reshaping manufacturing careers.
• Football Recap: Nordonia Piles Up the Points Against Solon (maxpreps.com) — Solon football fans saw a tough night Friday as the Comets fell 44–14 at home to Nordonia, dropping Solon's record to 3–4 after losing five of their last six home games. Nordonia's passing attack dominated, but Solon quickly turns the page, preparing to host familiar rival Highland next Friday at 7 p.m., giving the Comets a chance to rebound in front of home supporters.
• Gas to cost Ohioans less, but some legislators say it's not enough (chagrinvalleytoday.com) — Solon residents will see a temporary break at the pump after Ohio's new 90‑day gas tax holiday took effect October 4, dropping state fuel taxes nearly to zero through January 2. Local state Rep. Phillip Robinson of Solon opposed the measure as a short-term gimmick, while nearby Republican lawmakers backed it as needed relief, outlining sharply different ideas for tackling broader cost-of-living pressures.
