Anti-Overdose Drug Given To Man That Fled From Police In Solon
Police said they chased a stolen car into Garfield Heights. When they handcuffed the driver, he began to overdose.
SOLON, OH - Police had to administer an anti-overdose drug to a man that began overdosing while in police custody.
On Thursday, May 16, at about 8 p.m., an officer on patrol saw a car that had been reported as stolen. The vehicle was at the intersection of Aurora Road and SOM Center Road.
The officer turned on his lights and siren to stop the car, but the vehicle drove off. The officer gave chase, pursuing the car into Garfield Heights.

In Garfield Heights, the car stopped and the driver surrendered. Police handcuffed the driver, a 46-year-old man from Cleveland. As officers were preparing to transport the man to the Solon Corrections Center, the driver began to overdose.
Officers gave the man Narcan, an anti-overdose drug, which revived him. He later told officers he had ingested heroin, police said.

The driver was taken to a hospital for an examination. He has been charged with multiple traffic violations, receiving stolen property, fleeing and eluding, and operating a vehicle impaired.
