Armed Robber Had Semi Auto Handgun, Stole Amazon Van In Solon

Police have released more details on the theft of an Amazon delivery van this week.

SOLON, OH — More details have emerged on the armed robbery of a delivery truck driver in Solon. Police say the driver was working for Amazon, delivering packages, when two cars pulled up behind him on Jan. 21 and an armed suspect started running at the driver.

The incident took place at about 3:15 p.m. on Longview Drive. A 36-year-old Garfield Heights man was driving a Dodge Ram Promaster cargo van and delivering packages for Amazon. He was in the process of dropping off a package at a home, leaving his van running in the driveway, when he saw two cars pull up on the street and then a man got out and started running at him.

The suspect wore a black hood, mask and had a black semi-automatic handgun. The delivery van driver ran north on Longview, away from the suspect, and then hid behind a home. The man's van, and all of its contents, were stolen.
