Armed Robber Tries To Hit Solon Chipotle

The masked man put a silver handgun in the face of an employee but ran off without taking any money.

SOLON, OH — Police are searching for an armed robber attempted to hit the Chipotle Mexican Grill, 33599 Aurora Road, on Aug. 10. The robber wore a grey mask that obscured most of his face and fled without getting any cash.

The incident took place at about 6:30 a.m. An employee of Chipotle's arrived at the restaurant to do prep work for an event, prior to the store opening. As he was milling about, he heard a knock at the door. He answered it, thinking it was another employee.

Instead, he was greeted by a masked man pointing a silver handgun at him. The robber was a black man, approximately 5'8 or 5'9, weighing about 180 pounds. The employee screamed and the would-be robber ran off.

A blue Pontiac G6, with a white door, was seen in the parking lot of the restaurant prior to the incident. Police say that's unusual because, at 6:30 a.m., there's rarely more than one vehicle in the lot. (To stay up to date on local stories, subscribe to the Patch Solon newsletter.
