Assault Charges Possible For Solon High Student
A 17-year-old Solon High School student reportedly attacked a classmate, hitting him in the head and face on June 1.

SOLON, OH — A 17-year-old Solon High Schooler assaulted a 15-year-old classmate on June 1. The older student reportedly hit the victim in the head and face. The 17-year-old also reportedly assaulted the younger student on May 1.
The first assault took place at the high school. Police and the school district say the incident was addressed at that time.
The second assault took place when the students were on Portz Parkway near Solon Library. The assault was reported by one of the victim's parents.

The 17-year-old has been referred to the juvenile officer. He could face possible assault charges through Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.
A spokesperson for Solon Schools said the second incident has been addressed by the district and consequences had been meted out appropriately. While the spokesperson could not reveal specific details of the punishment for the student, they did say that the school handbook mandates consequences like an out-of-school suspension for a single incident. Consequences can escalate based on circumstances and for repeat offenders.

Every incident is treated differently, the spokesperson told Patch.
"The administrative team looks at each individual situation and works with parents and students to make sure students understand the consequences," the spokesperson said.
