Beer, Diapers Stolen During Solon Theft: Police

Police said a man carrying a hardhat stole more than $130 of beer and diapers from the Market District.

SOLON, OH — A hardhat wearing man stole beer and diapers from the Solon Market District, police said.

The theft happened at about 12:20 p.m. on April 18. An employee at Market District said the man had run out of the store with $132.95 of merchandise.

Employees of Market District said they had attempted to stop and confront the man about not paying for the beer and diapers. However, when they started to talk to the man, he said, "No, I'm gone," and took off running.

The man was seen sprinting down SR 91. Witnesses said the man was wearing a yellow jacket, carrying a hardhat, and had duct tape on his pants. Police quickly found the suspect.

The man was taken into custody and driven back to Market District. Employees were able to positively identify the man as the thief, police said.

The suspect, a 52-year-old from Cleveland, was arrested on suspicion on shoplifting and theft, and taken to Solon Correction Center.
